Railways clears tri-weekly Machilipatnam–Kurnool City Express via Vijayawada
Indian Railways has approved a new tri-weekly express between Machilipatnam and Kurnool City, covering 499 km via Vijayawada.
Indian Railways has approved a new tri-weekly express service linking Machilipatnam and Kurnool City via Vijayawada, adding a direct rail option between Andhra Pradesh's coastal and central regions.
The Machilipatnam–Kurnool City Express will run over a distance of 499 km. It is scheduled to leave Machilipatnam at 16:55 and arrive in Kurnool City at 05:45 the following day. On the return leg, the Kurnool City–Machilipatnam Express will depart at 09:30 and reach Machilipatnam at 21:35 the same day.
The service will operate three days a week in each direction. The Machilipatnam–Kurnool City run is scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, while the return trip will be on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Commercial stoppages have been fixed at Vijayawada, Narasaraopet, Markapur Road, Diguvametta and Betamcherla.
The new train is expected to improve connectivity between Machilipatnam, Vijayawada and Kurnool City, while offering an additional travel option for passengers in towns and cities along the route.
