Make in India Completes 12 Years as Modi Cites Manufacturing Gains

PM Modi marked 12 years of the Make in India initiative, citing growth in manufacturing, investment and exports, with PLI schemes drawing ₹2.40 lakh crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday marked the completion of 12 years of the Make in India initiative, pointing to progress in manufacturing, investment and exports.

Government data released alongside the occasion showed that production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes have drawn ₹2.40 lakh crore in investment. Electronics production was reported at ₹13.11 lakh crore in 2025-26.

The figures were presented as indicators of the programme's performance since its launch, with the government highlighting the expansion of domestic manufacturing capacity and the flow of capital into incentivised sectors.

The Make in India initiative was introduced to promote manufacturing within the country and to strengthen its position in global supply chains. Over the past twelve years, it has been accompanied by policy measures aimed at boosting industrial output and attracting investment.

The latest numbers place the PLI schemes and the electronics sector at the centre of the government's account of the programme's outcomes.
