Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Pakistan Sign Joint Defense Pact in Makkah

Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan have formalized a trilateral defense pact, agreeing that an armed attack against any one of them will be considered an attack against all three.

The Makkah Joint Defense Agreement was signed during the Makkah Summit for Joint Defense, held in the Saudi city of Makkah. Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif put their signatures to the document.

According to a joint statement issued after the summit, the agreement underscores the three nations' commitment to strengthening collective security and safeguarding regional peace and stability. It is designed to enhance collective deterrence against aggression and deepen defense cooperation across all sectors.

The leaders also reviewed bilateral ties and discussed several issues of mutual interest during the meeting. Erdogan and Sharif are currently in Saudi Arabia on an official visit at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
