Malabar Milma doubles cattle feed subsidy, allocates ₹1.72 crore
Malabar Milma doubles Gomathi Gold feed subsidy to ₹200/bag and adds other feed supports, allocating ₹1.72 crore for 1 lakh farmers.
The Malabar Regional Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited (Malabar Milma) has expanded its financial support for dairy farmers in northern Kerala. The union's administrative committee recently approved a revised subsidy structure aimed at reducing input costs for milk producers.
Under the updated scheme, the subsidy on Gomathi Gold, Milma's balanced cattle feed, has been doubled to ₹200 per 50-kg bag. Farmers purchasing Milma Bypass, a specialised feed for high-yielding cows, will receive ₹100 per 50-kg bag. Additionally, a subsidy of ₹1 per kg has been announced for True Meal TMR feed, produced by the Malabar Rural Development Foundation and sold through local cooperatives.
The enhanced rates will remain in effect throughout September 2026 and will be available at all primary dairy cooperative societies in the region. The union has set aside ₹1.72 crore for the initiative, which is expected to benefit over one lakh active dairy farmers across more than 1,000 societies in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.
In a separate decision, Milma chairman K.S. Mani and managing director N.K. Premlal approved an emergency grant of ₹1 lakh for the family of Prabitha, the late president of the Kalkundu Dairy Cooperative in Malappuram district, who died due to electrocution.
