Mammootty turns 75: Kerala CM leads birthday wishes, 'Mela' first look unveiled

Superstar Mammootty, a towering figure in Malayalam cinema, turned 75 on Monday, drawing warm tributes from political leaders, colleagues, and fans across social media.
Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan took to X to extend his greetings, calling the veteran actor the "pride" of Malayalam cinema. He praised Mammootty's five-decade-long career as an "eternal inspiration" to Indian cinema and wished him long life, good health, and happiness.
Actor Mohanlal, a longtime friend and frequent co-star, also posted a birthday message on X, addressing Mammootty affectionately as "Ichakka" and wishing him continued success and well-being.
To mark the occasion, the makers of Mammootty's upcoming film "Mela" released the title and first-look poster. Directed by Nithish Sahadev, the film is the ninth production venture under Mammootty's own production house. The poster shows the actor in a rugged, intense avatar, dressed in a black shirt and mundu.
Mammootty's recent work includes the political action thriller "Patriot," which released in May 2026. He is also attached to several upcoming projects, including "Mattancherry Mafia," a reunion with acclaimed director Adoor Gopalakrishnan for "Padayaatra," and the Tamil action thriller "Om" alongside Dhanush, Sai Pallavi, Naseeruddin Shah, Sreeleela, and Indrans.
