Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan reunite for 'Padayaatra', trailer unveiled

Mammootty and director Adoor Gopalakrishnan have come together on screen after more than three decades for the film 'Padayaatra'. The trailer of the movie has now been released by the makers.

Produced by Mammootty Kampany, 'Padayaatra' is the banner's eighth production. The trailer, which runs for one minute and fourteen seconds, presents Mammootty as a doctor who works to provide free treatment to his patients, a move that stirs suspicion among the villagers.

"It is not the times that have changed, it is us," reads the film's tagline, offering a sense of the story's central idea. The footage points to a social drama centred on human values.

Grace Antony and Indrans appear in key roles, while the ensemble cast includes Aliyar, Sreeshma Chandran, Alancier Ley Lopez, Madhupal, Nandu, P Sreekumar, Jagadish and Zeenat. Mammootty Kampany shared the trailer on its Instagram handle.

The story, screenplay and dialogues of 'Padayaatra' have been written jointly by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and KV Mohankumar. Shehnad Jalal is the cinematographer and Mujeeb Majeed has composed the music.

The film is expected to be released in theatres in Kerala.

Adoor and Mammootty have earlier worked together on three acclaimed films: 'Anantharam', 'Mathilukal' and 'Vidheyan'. Their most recent collaboration, 'Vidheyan', was released in 1993 and went on to be regarded as one of the most celebrated works of both the filmmaker and the actor.
