Mammootty's 75th Birthday Brings First Look at 'Om – Chapter 1' Gangster
On Mammootty's 75th birthday, makers of 'Om – Chapter 1' unveiled a teaser revealing his character Burma Karthikeyan, a smuggler in an international crime ring.
The makers of the upcoming Tamil film Om – Chapter 1 chose Malayalam superstar Mammootty's 75th birthday to unveil a special teaser introducing his character in the project. The video, released on Monday, September 7, gives audiences their first look at Mammootty as Burma Karthikeyan.
Karthikeyan is portrayed as a powerful figure within an international crime syndicate under Interpol's scrutiny. Known affectionately as 'Siya' by locals, the character offers a candid self-assessment in the teaser, admitting he is a smuggler rather than a good man. He likens himself to gold with considerable impurities, setting the tone for a morally complex antagonist. The glimpse also shows Dhanush's character working under Karthikeyan.
The film, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, carries the full title OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood. It features Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela in pivotal roles. The technical crew includes music composer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K, and editor R Kalaivanan.
Produced jointly by Wunderbar Films and RTake Studios, with Shraddha Agarwal, Dhanush, and Azmat Jagmag at the helm, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 16.
