Makers of 'OM Chapter 1' released a character glimpse of Mammootty as Burma Karthikeyan on his 75th birthday.
The makers of the upcoming film 'OM Chapter 1' treated fans to a character glimpse of veteran actor Mammootty on his 75th birthday. The video, shared on Monday, showcases the actor in the role of Burma Karthikeyan, a figure of power in the smuggling world. The glimpse captures his charisma with scenes of him firing guns and smoking a cigar.
The film features Dhanush in the lead role, alongside Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, and Sreeleela. Rajkumar Perisamy has written and directed the project, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar. 'OM Chapter 1' is jointly produced by Shraddha Agrawal, Dhanush, and Azmat Jagmag under the Wunderbar Films banner. The movie is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
The birthday also brought news of another project for the actor. The title and first-look poster for his upcoming film with director Nithish Sahadev, 'Mela', were unveiled. The poster presents Mammootty in a rugged avatar, dressed in a black shirt and mundu. Additionally, the actor is set to reunite with acclaimed filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan for 'Padayaatra'. The duo previously collaborated on films including 'Vidheyan', 'Anantaram', and 'Mathilukal'.
