Man Bites Off Wife's Nose in Mancherial Attack Over Return to Marital Home

A woman was seriously injured in Telangana's Mancherial district after her husband allegedly bit off a portion of her nose during an altercation at her parents' home, police said.

The incident occurred on Monday in Kotapalli mandal, where the woman, identified as Mamata, had been living after leaving her husband's house about ten days earlier following a marital dispute.

Mamata, a resident of the mandal headquarters, married Enagandla Manichander of Mallampet village around nine years ago. The couple has two daughters. According to police, the two had been facing differences for some time, and Manichander had repeatedly asked her to return to their matrimonial home, which she declined.

On Monday, Manichander allegedly went to his in-laws' residence and entered into an argument with Mamata's father, Narayana. During the confrontation, he is said to have attacked Narayana with a wooden stick, leaving him with a serious head injury and heavy bleeding.

When Mamata tried to intervene, the accused allegedly turned on her and bit her nose forcefully, severing a portion of it.

Family members and others present arranged for her to receive initial medical treatment before she was shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for further care.

Kotapalli Sub-Inspector Rajasekhar confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused husband and that further investigation is underway.
