Assamese Singer Joi Barua Calls Delhi Killing of Manipuri Musician a 'Plain-Blooded Murder'
Assamese singer Joi Barua condemned the killing of Manipuri musician C Vikram Singh in Delhi as murder, urging strict legal action.
Popular Assamese singer and composer Joi Barua has condemned the death of 54-year-old Manipuri musician C Vikram Singh in Delhi, calling it a "plain-blooded murder" rather than an accident.
Speaking on Tuesday, Barua expressed outrage over the incident, noting that it was particularly shameful as it occurred on the day the nation was commemorating the birth centenary of legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika. He stressed that the incident reflects poorly on the prevailing law and order situation.
"This is not an accident. This is plain blooded murder," Barua said, adding that authorities should consider the seriousness of such events. He expressed hope that "the harshest of laws are implemented" and that the case serves as a warning that such violence will not be tolerated.
The victim, a music teacher, was allegedly assaulted by a group of men in Kilokari Village near Delhi's Ashram area. The altercation reportedly began after Singh objected to shouting and nuisance caused by delivery boys and dhaba staff outside his residence.
Police received a PCR call regarding the beating on September 7 at the Sunlight Colony police station. A preliminary enquiry revealed that when Singh came downstairs to confront the group, he was allegedly attacked with fists and blows.
An FIR has been registered under murder provisions, and all accused, including minors, have been apprehended. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
