Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange has launched his 11th hunger strike at Antarwali Sarati in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The protest is aimed at pressing the state government to issue Kunbi certificates to all 58 lakh applicants whose records have already been verified.
Jarange has been leading a sustained campaign for the inclusion of Marathas in the Kunbi category, which would make them eligible for reservation benefits under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) quota. His latest fast comes amid ongoing negotiations with the state administration over the documentation process.
The demand centres on expediting the issuance of Kunbi certificates to those whose genealogical and revenue records have been confirmed. The activist has previously undertaken multiple fasts, with this being the eleventh such protest, underscoring the persistence of the movement.
Authorities have been urged to resolve the matter swiftly to avoid escalation. The protest site at Antarwali Sarati has become a focal point for the Maratha reservation agitation, drawing supporters from across the region.
