Telangana's largest public tertiary hospital MCR TIMS Sanathnagar set for launch
Telangana's biggest government tertiary hospital since 2014, MCR TIMS Sanathnagar with 1,082 beds, opens in Hyderabad on August 17.
Hyderabad is set to witness a major expansion of its public healthcare landscape with the inauguration of the Marri Chenna Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (MCR TIMS) at Sanathnagar. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will officially open the facility on Monday, August 17, 2026.
The hospital, constructed on a 53.30-acre campus with a built-up area of 11.68 lakh sq ft, is the largest tertiary-care government hospital built in Telangana since the state's formation in 2014. The project, valued at ₹1,126 crore, is designed as a Centre of Excellence for cardiac, renal, transplant and trauma sciences.
The facility will house 1,082 beds, including 300 ICU beds, 400 general beds, 88 emergency beds, 30 dialysis beds, and 264 beds earmarked for medical tourism, employees, pensioners, and other categories. The emergency block alone will have 388 beds and 15 major operating theatres, along with trauma and neuro critical-care units. The outpatient block will feature 350 beds, cath labs, and diagnostic services such as endoscopy, bronchoscopy, radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine. A separate inpatient block will add another 300 beds.
Clinical services will span 28 departments covering broad and super-specialities, including cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, nephrology, urology, organ transplantation, neurology, neurosurgery, and orthopaedics. Nine more departments are planned, covering medical and surgical oncology, interventional radiology, transfusion medicine, and haematology.
To run the facility, the state government has sanctioned 2,360 posts, comprising 1,633 medical positions, 355 allied roles, and 372 non-medical staff. All 17 key licences and approvals, including fire safety, environmental clearance, pharmacy, clinical establishments, and blood bank NOCs, have been secured.
The project received administrative sanction in April 2022, with construction beginning in February 2023. Beyond serving Hyderabad and Telangana, the hospital is also being positioned to attract international patients, with dedicated beds and services for medical tourism.
