Meta Restores Kerala CM Office Posts After Takedown, CMO Seeks Explanation

Meta has restored two official Facebook posts that were removed from the Kerala Chief Minister's Office page, following intervention by the state government. The posts pertained to the announcement of the Onam festival allowance for ASHA workers and greetings on the occasion of Nabi Day.
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan confirmed the restoration on Saturday, stating that the posts were brought back online after strong intervention from the Chief Minister's Office. He expressed concern over the arbitrary removal of verified government communications, which ranged from festival greetings to welfare notices.
The Chief Minister's Office said its Secretary, Rattan U. Kelkar, had taken up the matter with Meta and the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The office has sought a formal explanation under the IT Act, clarity on whether the removal was automated or manual, and safeguards to protect official government communication handles.
Earlier on Saturday, the CMO had written to Meta and the Union IT Ministry, requesting restoration of the posts and an explanation for their removal. In a letter sent by Kelkar, the Union IT Ministry was also asked to intervene and ensure such removals do not recur.
