Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra Named to TIME100 AI List for 2026
Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra has been named to TIME's 2026 TIME100 AI list, recognizing his leadership in AI memory technology.
Micron Technology's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sanjay Mehrotra, has been named to the 2026 TIME100 AI list. The annual list, published by TIME on August 27, recognizes the 100 most influential people shaping the field of artificial intelligence.
Micron acknowledged the honor in a statement on X, congratulating Mehrotra on the recognition. The company highlighted its role in providing the memory and storage technologies that power AI-enabled experiences, from data centers to edge devices.
TIME's profile notes that Micron is one of only three companies globally that manufacture high-bandwidth memory, a critical component for AI hardware. This technology is essential for holding and running large AI models efficiently.
The publication also detailed Mehrotra's efforts to stabilize the company after cyclical downturns in the semiconductor market. Following a significant loss in 2023, Micron shifted its strategy to secure long-term contracts for AI infrastructure. This pivot led to a substantial increase in revenue for its cloud-memory division, which grew from $3.4 billion to $13.8 billion in a single quarter.
To address supply chain risks, Mehrotra has also focused on diversifying production. Micron has announced plans to invest over $250 billion in U.S. manufacturing and research through 2035, along with a $24 billion expansion in Singapore.
The 2026 list also includes leaders from OpenAI, SpaceX, IBM, and Anthropic, among other notable figures in the AI sector.
