Midwest Storms Bring Flooding, Tornadoes, and Widespread Power Outages

In Indiana, a four-year-old boy was killed when a tree fell on his home. In Ohio, a person died during a health emergency after first responders were unable to reach them because of flooded roads. Indiana authorities are also looking into whether the storms triggered a house explosion that claimed one life.
Video released by the Indiana Department of Transportation shows floodwater rushing over a completely washed-out section of State Road 38, just west of US-35 in Wayne County. The footage highlights the destructive force of the floodwaters that have compromised infrastructure in the region.
The storm system caused widespread power failures, with more than 650,000 customers losing electricity by Wednesday afternoon across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Crews are continuing their efforts to restore service and assess the full extent of the damage.
