Far-Right Commentator Milo Yiannopoulos Deported to UK After Visa Overstay

British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was deported to the United Kingdom on Friday, a day after being arrested by US immigration authorities at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the deportation on Saturday.

Yiannopoulos, 41, had legally entered the United States in May 2019 but remained beyond the permitted duration of his stay. A DHS spokesperson said he "chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation's laws."

According to DHS, Yiannopoulos failed to appear for an immigration hearing and was issued a final removal order on July 22. The arrest was first reported by celebrity news outlet TMZ, which noted his close ties to rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and suggested he may have been in New Orleans ahead of the musician's scheduled performance there.

Yiannopoulos, a vocal supporter of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, has built a public profile around anti-Islamic and anti-immigrant rhetoric. In a June 2025 post on X, he wrote: "We have got to deport millions and millions and millions of people. Without that, nothing else matters." He has also advocated for stricter immigration enforcement measures, including ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances.
