Myanmar National Held in Mizoram With Meth Tablets Worth Rs 11.4 Crore

Mizoram Police have arrested a Myanmar national after recovering a large consignment of methamphetamine tablets valued at Rs 11.4 crore. The seizure took place on Wednesday at Tuichang bridge in Serchhip district during a joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), District Special Branch (DSB), and CID (Special Branch).

The accused has been identified as Lalpanliana, a resident of Falam in Myanmar. Authorities recovered approximately 1.5 lakh tablets weighing a total of 14.26 kg from his possession. The NCB has initiated a deeper investigation into the case to trace the supply chain.

In separate operations, enforcement agencies also intercepted other contraband. Khawzawl police seized 180 bags of dry areca nuts, each weighing around 80 kg, from a truck near Chawngtlai village. The consignment, valued at Rs 36 lakh, along with the vehicle, has been handed over to the Customs Preventive Force in Champhai for legal proceedings.

Additionally, Lunglei DSB, with assistance from local vigilantes, recovered 633.3 litres of locally made liquor from two individuals during an operation at Hauruang on Monday.
