PM Modi Departs Bishkek After SCO Summit, Holds Multiple Bilateral Meetings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for New Delhi, concluding his two-nation tour after attending the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The summit was held under Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi held discussions with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon and Laos President Thongloun Sisoulith. During his meeting with President Sisoulith, the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral linkages between India and Laos. PM Modi noted that the conversation was productive and focused on boosting ties between the nations.

Following his meeting with President Rahmon, PM Modi expressed India's readiness to enhance cooperation with Tajikistan across various sectors.

Prior to the summit proceedings, PM Modi interacted with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin before joining other SCO leaders for the official group photograph.

The SCO comprises 10 member states, including India, China, Russia, Pakistan, and the host nation Kyrgyzstan, along with Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The organisation also has observer states and a network of dialogue partners.

On the preceding day, PM Modi had held bilateral meetings with the presidents of Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, as well as the Prime Minister of Armenia. He also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial in Bishkek and interacted with members of the Indian community. Additionally, he attended the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games and extended his best wishes to the Indian contingent participating in the event.

PM Modi had arrived in Bishkek on Sunday after concluding his engagements in Uzbekistan, where he held talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at the Shastri Memorial.
