Modi Urges Dialogue and Diplomacy as Putin Tells BRICS Russia Open to All
PM Modi calls dialogue and diplomacy the path to resolving conflicts, as Putin tells a BRICS business forum that Russia is ready to work with the whole world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward in resolving conflicts, and that India stands ready to assist in peace efforts. His remarks came less than two weeks after he urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to move from "endless war" to "end of war".
Speaking at the BRICS business forum, Putin said Russia was not acting against anyone and was pursuing its own interests. He added that Moscow was prepared to work with all partners, both old and new, and was open to cooperating with the whole world.
Putin said the forum's Business Council had become a mechanism that gives additional impetus to trade and economic ties. According to him, it would help implement numerous projects in infrastructure, logistics, finance and technological cooperation, among other areas, to intensify these activities.
Though Putin's remarks were delivered at a business gathering, the message was seen as political and directed at Western countries. The two leaders' comments underscore the continuing diplomatic focus on finding a negotiated path amid the conflict.
