Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inauguration of the Global FinTech Fest (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai on Tuesday, sharing key takeaways from his speech through a series of posts on X.
In his address, the Prime Minister spoke about India's remarkable FinTech journey and the widespread success of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). He used the platform to outline four key priorities for the sector's future development.
Modi called for expanding UPI's global footprint, taking FinTech beyond payments into areas like credit, insurance, savings, investments, and pensions. He also stressed the importance of harnessing emerging technologies such as Agentic AI, Tokenisation, and Quantum computing.
Rounding out his priorities, the Prime Minister emphasised the need for top-notch cyber security and ethical data protection, alongside a stronger FinTech consumer protection index to foster greater innovation.
Concluding his remarks, Modi asserted that "India's Reform Express will only gather more speed," signalling continued policy momentum in the digital and financial sectors.
