Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to the legendary singer, composer, and filmmaker Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary.

In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister described Hazarika's voice as one that carried the soul of Assam and the spirit of the Northeast to the entire nation. He noted that through his music, Hazarika gave powerful expression to the aspirations and emotions of countless people, using his art to bring communities closer together.

Modi also recalled attending the launch of the birth centenary celebrations in Guwahati last year, describing the event as a warm memory. He expressed confidence that the life and work of 'Bhupen Da', as he was affectionately known, would continue to inspire future generations.

Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, who passed away in 2011, remains one of India's most revered cultural icons. His vast body of work, spanning several decades, includes songs in Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi, and is celebrated for its lyrical depth and social consciousness.
