At SCO Summit, PM Modi Calls for United Front Against Terror Ecosystem

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the annual Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek on Tuesday, calling on member states to present a united front against terrorism. He stressed that the entire ecosystem of terrorism, along with its financing networks, must be dismantled, and that there can be no place for double standards in addressing the threat.
Speaking at the gathering of regional leaders, Modi also emphasised that wars and conflicts cannot be resolved on the battlefield. He advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable means to settle disputes, a position India has consistently maintained in global forums.
The Prime Minister further highlighted the importance of connectivity projects, stating that such initiatives must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations. The remark is widely seen as a reference to concerns over projects that bypass established international norms.
Modi described the SCO as a confluence of great civilisations, cultures, and ideas for India. He outlined three pillars of New Delhi's vision for the bloc: security, connectivity, and opportunity. His comments on terrorism come amid India's sustained efforts to highlight cross-border terrorist activities at international platforms.
