PM Modi to visit Uzbekistan, attend SCO Summit in Kyrgyzstan
PM Modi will visit Uzbekistan for bilateral talks and Kyrgyzstan for the 26th SCO Summit from Aug 29 to Sep 1.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a four-day official visit to Central Asia starting August 29, 2026. The itinerary includes a bilateral state visit to Uzbekistan followed by participation in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the Prime Minister will be in Tashkent on August 29-30 at the invitation of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This will mark Modi's fourth visit to Uzbekistan. During his stay, he will hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev aimed at deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Discussions are expected to cover trade and investment, defence cooperation, digital connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people ties. The leaders will also align their developmental roadmaps, specifically the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and the Uzbekistan-2030 strategy. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit the Shastri Memorial in Tashkent and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
From Tashkent, Modi will travel to Bishkek on August 31 at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov. He will attend the 26th SCO Summit from August 31 to September 1. The summit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the SCO, an organisation India has been a full member of since 2017.
At the summit, the Prime Minister will address the gathering, highlighting India's priorities of security, connectivity, and opportunity. He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with other SCO leaders on the sidelines. Additionally, Modi will attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, an event celebrating the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
