PM Modi Unveils ₹35,000 Crore Projects, Flags Off Key Freight Corridor Milestone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on [date] laid the foundation stones, inaugurated, and dedicated to the nation a series of development projects valued at more than ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara, Gujarat. Addressing a gathering at the Maharaja Sayajirao University ground, he framed the event as a collective festival of progress, bringing together professionals from various fields.

A central theme of the Prime Minister's address was the completion of the 2,800-kilometer Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), which he described as a lifeline for a rapidly developing India. He noted that the project, which connects the Eastern and Western corridors, is now fundamentally altering the country's commercial landscape. By separating passenger and freight traffic, the corridor now supports over 430 cargo trains daily, significantly reducing travel times. The Prime Minister cited an example where a 30-hour truck journey has been cut to 10-12 hours, leading to fuel savings, lower freight charges, and environmental benefits.

He also highlighted the corridor's positive impact on agriculture, enabling farmers to transport perishable goods like flowers, vegetables, and fruits to distant markets more swiftly. A key operational milestone mentioned was the successful run of a double-stack container train from JNPT Port to Vadodara, which carried cargo equivalent to more than 250 trucks in a single trip.

The Prime Minister used the occasion to outline his broader vision for infrastructure and manufacturing, referencing the 'Saptadhara' or seven streams of development. He pointed to a record railway budget of over ₹2.75 lakh crore as a source for generating employment and fostering new industries. He also lauded Vadodara's industrial legacy, from textiles to petrochemicals, and its role as the birthplace of India's first domestically manufactured C-295 military transport aircraft.

Highlighting India's growing manufacturing capacity, PM Modi stated that since 2014, the nation has produced 50,000 modern railway coaches and introduced nearly 2.5 lakh wagons. He further championed self-reliance in critical sectors, citing the domestic production of solar PV modules and the success of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which he said has benefited 55 lakh families nationwide, including 11 lakh in Gujarat.

Addressing the future, the Prime Minister stressed the need for a robust electric ecosystem to support emerging technologies like data centers and artificial intelligence. He mentioned that international agreements for uranium, critical minerals, and rare earth elements are being secured to ensure the nation's future. He also emphasized the need for skill development, stating that traditional degrees are no longer sufficient and that the National Education Policy is being restructured to prioritize continuous learning and training.
