PM Modi to Visit Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic for Bilateral Talks and SCO Summit
PM Modi will visit Uzbekistan for bilateral talks and the Kyrgyz Republic for the 26th SCO Summit, marking the grouping's 25th anniversary.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to undertake a two-nation visit to Central Asia from August 29 to September 1, 2026. The trip will begin with a State Visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, followed by participation in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
During his fourth visit to Uzbekistan, PM Modi will hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries. The discussions are expected to cover trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people ties. The leaders will also exchange views on aligning their developmental visions, specifically Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.
As part of the programme, the Prime Minister is expected to visit the Shastri Memorial in Tashkent and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
From Tashkent, PM Modi will travel to Bishkek at the invitation of President Sadyr Zhaparov to attend the SCO Summit on August 31 and September 1. The summit marks the 25th anniversary of the SCO, of which India has been a full member since 2017. The Prime Minister will address the forum, highlighting India's priorities of Security, Connectivity, and Opportunity.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with other SCO leaders. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, an event celebrating the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
