The Prime Minister is on a two-day state visit to Uzbekistan, his fourth to the country, at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He arrived in Tashkent on Saturday and was received warmly by the Uzbek President at the airport.
Earlier, Mr. Modi visited Yangi Uzbekistan Park and laid a wreath at the Independence Monument alongside President Mirziyoyev. He also met members of the Indian community in Tashkent, where he witnessed Kathak and Andijan Polka performances, as well as a dance by Uzbek children to the Indian song "Ude Jab Jab Zulfe Teri". A fusion performance featuring the tabla with traditional Uzbek instruments, Doira and Chang, was also presented.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
