Mohanlal’s Next Film ‘Operation Ganga’ to Recreate India’s Ukraine Evacuation Mission
Mohanlal’s upcoming film, now titled ‘Operation Ganga’, will dramatise India’s evacuation of citizens from war-torn Ukraine.
Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal’s next project, previously known as L367, has been formally named ‘Operation Ganga’. The film will be directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vishnu Mohan and is being positioned as a large-scale production centred on one of India’s most significant rescue efforts on foreign soil.
The story will focus on the evacuation mission that brought back Indian citizens, including thousands of students, who were stranded in Ukraine after the Russia-Ukraine war broke out. The film aims to capture both the scale of the operation and its eventual success.
Mohanlal leads an ensemble cast that includes Arjun Rampal, Bhagyashri Borse, Parthiban, and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles. The movie is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the Sree Gokulam Movies banner, with Baiju Gopalan and VC Praveen serving as co-producers and Krishnamoorthy as executive producer.
The technical crew features cinematographer Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, known for the ‘Pushpa’ films, and production designer Rajeevan, whose credits include ‘GOAT’, ‘Meiyazhagan’, ‘Amaran’, and ‘Kathanar’. Action sequences will be choreographed by Sea Young Oh, while music is composed by Shashwat Sachdev. Editor Shameer Mohammed and sound designer Bishwadeep Chatterjee are also part of the team, along with VFX supervisor KV Sanjit.
Military authenticity will be overseen by Sqn Ldr Varlin Panwar, who has worked on films like ‘Fighter’ and ‘Border 2’. Costume direction is by Melvy J, with makeup by Ronex Xavier and production control by Rinny Divakar.
With a strong cast and a large technical team, ‘Operation Ganga’ is set to bring the story of India’s wartime evacuation to the big screen.
