Mookuthi Amman 2 teaser unveiled: Nayanthara returns as the Goddess in Sundar C's devotional thriller

The teaser of Mookuthi Amman 2 - Maha Sakthi, starring Nayanthara in the title role, was released on Monday, September 14, to coincide with Vinayaka Chaturthi. The Tamil devotional thriller is directed by Sundar C and serves as a sequel to RJ Balaji's 2020 film.

The promo suggests a sweeping narrative that moves between the past and the present. It depicts the queen of a kingdom giving her life to protect her son, the prince, from attacking forces. Mookuthi Amman arrives to rescue the child, while the teaser also introduces a fresh antagonist — a mysterious woman portrayed by Regena Cassandrra.

The sequel appears to mark a change in tone from its predecessor, which blended social satire with comedy. Sundar C's film leans towards the traditional, serious style associated with Amman cinema.

Venkatt Ragavan has written the film. The ensemble cast includes BR Vijayakumar, Urvashi, Yogi Babu, Ilavarasan, Maina Nandini, Ramachandra Raju, MG Abhinaya and Shruthy S. Y Gee Mahendra, Sneha and Khushboo also feature in the cast, though it is not yet clear whether they appear in cameo roles.

HipHop Tamizha has composed the music, with Gopinath Venugopal handling cinematography and Fenny Oliver on editing. Ishari K. Ganesh is producing under the Vels Film International banner.

Mookuthi Amman 2 is scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 6, during Deepavali.
