The Committee for the Protection of Democratic Rights (CJP) has announced that it will join the ongoing agitation demanding the resignation of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) chairman and secretary over the alleged examination paper leaks.
The organisation said the protest would be carried forward, and that a statewide tour would be undertaken to interact with MPSC aspirants if the demand was not met by September 24.
The announcement, made in a release, signals an escalation of the campaign, which has drawn in civil society groups alongside candidates preparing for the state services examinations.
Protesters have been pressing for accountability at the top of the commission, arguing that the alleged leaks have undermined the credibility of the recruitment process. The CJP's decision to join the agitation adds weight to the demand, with the outfit now tying its statewide outreach to the September 24 deadline.
If the resignations are not forthcoming by then, the CJP said it would travel across Maharashtra to speak with aspirants, a move that could broaden the movement beyond the current protest sites.
The commission has not publicly responded to the demand, and there was no immediate indication of whether the chairman or secretary would step down.
