The video, captured on August 31, 2026, shows water rushing over the red rock formations, creating a temporary waterfall that poured onto the road below. Despite the hazardous conditions, vehicles can be seen navigating the area as the water flows across the roadway.
The incident comes just days after a separate flash flood in Grand Canyon National Park in neighboring Arizona, located roughly a hundred miles away, killed two people on Saturday. Officials reported that 80 individuals had been rescued from the Grand Canyon park, with one person still unaccounted for as of Monday.
Park officials urge visitors to remain vigilant during monsoon season, as sudden storms can turn dry canyons into dangerous waterways with little warning.
