Mumbai Super Car Rally Traffic Jam Sparks Outrage After Woman's Plea Goes Viral
A woman's emotional plea to pass through traffic caused by a Mumbai car rally, flagged off by Amruta Fadnavis, has gone viral, sparking criticism.
A luxury car rally in Mumbai, organized by the Queens' Drive Club and flagged off by Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has come under fire after a video of a distressed commuter went viral.
The incident occurred as the all-women convoy was being flagged off. In the footage, a visibly upset woman is seen breaking through the media scrum, clasping her hands and pleading with event coordinators and security personnel to let her car through the traffic bottleneck.
"Guys, I have an emergency at home," she cried, adding that her car was stuck. "Please let me go… please just let me pass!" When asked to clear the staging area, she became more distraught, apologizing and begging with folded hands, explaining she had been trapped for over an hour and a half due to route diversions. Security officials eventually escorted her away.
The video quickly spread on social media, drawing sharp criticism from netizens who accused authorities of prioritizing a promotional spectacle over the needs of ordinary citizens. Many questioned why Amruta Fadnavis did not intervene, with some commenting that VIP movements often cause such disruptions. Neither the organizers nor the traffic police have issued a statement on whether emergency lanes were maintained.
Ironically, at the same event, Amruta Fadnavis criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, suggesting he should raise genuine issues instead of constantly criticizing the government. She said, "If the Government is doing a good job, it is not right to comment unnecessarily. It will be better if the opposition raises the right issues and plays its role in a positive way."
