Mumbai Traffic Advisory: BKC to See Slow Movement During Global Fintech Fest
Mumbai Police have issued a traffic advisory for BKC due to the Global Fintech Fest, predicting slow movement between 4 PM and 8 PM.
Commuters in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) should prepare for significant delays on Wednesday evening as the four-day Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 gets underway. The event, scheduled from September 8 to 11 at the Jio World Convention Centre, is expected to draw a large number of attendees and VIP delegations, prompting the Mumbai Traffic Police to issue a formal advisory.
Authorities have indicated that vehicular movement will be particularly sluggish between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, a period that overlaps with the city's peak evening rush hour. The police have advised motorists to seek alternative routes to avoid getting stuck in the anticipated congestion around the business district.
To ease the pressure on internal BKC roads, the traffic department has recommended several diversion corridors. Commuters travelling between the Western and Eastern Express Highways are advised to bypass BKC entirely, using the Sion-Dharavi Link Road to connect Kalanagar with Sion and Kurla East. Those moving between the eastern and western suburbs can use the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) to reach the Western Express Highway near Kalina. For travel between Kurla and Santacruz, the CST Road (Kalina) route via Mumbai University is suggested.
For those with destinations inside BKC, police have flagged the junctions near the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and MTNL as critical choke points to avoid. Drivers coming from the eastern suburbs via the BKC Connector can use the signal-free stretch behind Avenue-5 and the SEBI building to access commercial complexes on Avenue-3.
Given the potential for parking gridlock, authorities strongly recommend using public transport. The underground Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) offers direct connectivity to the BKC precinct and is advised for both delegates and daily commuters.
