Bollywood actor Mushtaq Khan, known for 'Welcome' and 'Gadar', dies

Veteran Bollywood actor Mushtaq Khan, whose career in Hindi cinema spanned more than three decades, has died. He was in his late 50s.

Khan passed away on Thursday. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) confirmed the death. He had reportedly been battling lung cancer for a prolonged period.

Khan began his film journey in 1980 with 'Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai'. Over the years, he built a reputation as a dependable supporting actor, appearing in a wide range of Hindi films. His credits include 'Welcome', 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' and 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke', among many others.

His comic turn in 'Welcome' remains among his most fondly remembered performances, particularly the dialogue scene featuring the line "Meri ek taang nakli hai, main hockey ka bahut bada player hoon". The role showcased the comic timing and ease that made his characters memorable for audiences.
