Musk's America PAC injects $800,000 into key US Senate races ahead of midterms

Elon Musk's political action committee, America PAC, has deployed approximately $800,000 to bolster Republican candidates in competitive races ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections, according to a campaign finance filing with the Federal Election Commission.

The filing, submitted late Wednesday, reveals targeted spending in several high-stakes Senate contests. The PAC allocated nearly $250,000 to the Texas Senate race, over $170,000 in Maine, and more than $25,000 in Michigan. These figures emerge roughly two months before voters head to the polls, with Democrats aiming to flip vulnerable seats and challenge Republican control of Congress.

Beyond these marquee races, America PAC is spreading its resources across House and Senate contests in more than a dozen states, including Alaska, Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

In Texas, the PAC's contribution is modest compared to the tens of millions anticipated in the race between Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico. However, the injection comes amid Republican worries over Paxton's fundraising gap, prompting calls for outside groups to step in.

Andrew Romeo, a spokesperson for America PAC, previously stated the group was eager to support Republican candidates, praising the broader GOP operation as "top-notch."

This spending marks a return to the political arena for Musk, who was a major financial backer of Republicans in the 2024 presidential cycle, spending over $250 million to support Donald Trump. His political involvement continued into 2025 with significant spending in a Wisconsin Supreme Court race, which ended in defeat for his preferred candidate.

Musk's relationship with Trump has been turbulent, featuring public clashes and even a floated idea for a new political party. Yet, recent appearances together, including during a state visit to China, suggest the feud has cooled. With the midterms approaching, Musk's renewed financial firepower positions him as a key outside ally for Republicans in the nation's most competitive electoral battles.
