Mysuru Dasara 2026: Gavimath Seer to Be Invited for Inauguration
Mysuru authorities will formally invite Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji of Gavimath, Koppal, to inaugurate Dasara 2026 on October 11.
The Mysuru district administration is set to formally invite Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji of Gavimath in Koppal district to inaugurate Mysuru Dasara 2026, scheduled to begin on October 11.
A delegation led by Mysuru district in-charge Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah will travel to Gavimath on October 3 to extend the invitation in person. Deputy Commissioner and Dasara Special Officer G. Lakshmikantha Reddy and members of the Dasara Welcome Committee will accompany the Minister. The team is expected to reach the mutt at 11 a.m. and request the seer to preside over the inauguration of the festivities.
Separately, the administration on Monday carried the official invitation card for the festival to the Chamundi Hill temple, where it was offered to Goddess Chamundeshwari. The card, prepared by the Dasara Reception Committee, was taken to the shrine and prayers were held seeking the deity's blessings for the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Yukesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Aishwarya R. and other officials were present at the temple.
The two exercises — inviting the seer and seeking the goddess's blessings — mark the customary run-up to the annual Dasara festivities in the district.
