Yuva Sambhrama Opens Mysuru Dasara 2026 Festivities
Mysuru Dasara 2026's Yuva Sambhrama was inaugurated on Tuesday, featuring daily performances by school and college students until October 5.
The Yuva Sambhrama, a youth cultural segment of the Mysuru Dasara 2026 celebrations, was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Kuvempu Open Air Theatre in Gangotri, Mysuru. District in-charge Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah opened the programme, which will run daily until October 5 and showcase performances by hundreds of school and college students.
The inauguration drew singer Vijay Prakash, actress Saptami Gowda, and MLAs Tanveer Sait, Anil Chikkamadu and G.T. Devegowda as chief guests.
Addressing the gathering, Saptami Gowda recalled her own association with the festivities, saying she used to take part in Dasara sports to win cash prizes. She noted that she had attended the entire Dasara last year, which was also Abhimanyu's last, and expressed happiness that he would return this time. She also thanked the Chief Minister for announcing free buses, urging everyone to come and watch the celebrations.
MLA G.T. Devegowda welcomed attendees to the 2026 festival and sang "Mysuru Dasara Eshtondhu Sundara". He said the programme was started because children needed a platform like Yuva Sambhrama, adding that Mysuru is known for peace and love and that he himself had launched the Yuva Dasara initiative. He asked the audience to respect elders and senior citizens who attend.
According to the Mysuru Dasara website, Yuva Sambhrama will feature film music, indie and folk fusion on the festival's biggest stage, drawing tens of thousands of spectators.
The Mysuru Dasara celebration, which marks the triumph of good over evil and honours Goddess Chamundeshwari, is scheduled from October 11 to October 21, 2026.
