Mysuru Dasara Kambala Confirmed for October 18 and 19 Despite Opposition

Mysuru Dasara will host Kambala on October 18 and 19 at Sathagalli, with about 150 teams and 8,000 seats, despite objections from various groups.

The Kambala event will go ahead as part of this year's Mysuru Dasara celebrations on October 18 and 19, with the dates now formally fixed despite objections raised by several groups in the city.

The decision was conveyed at a meeting of the Dasara Executive Committee on Wednesday, where Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Yukesh Kumar said the event would be held at Sathagalli in Mysuru. Around 150 teams are expected to take part across junior and senior categories.

Arrangements are being made to seat 8,000 spectators, and the event will be conducted in line with government guidelines. Infrastructure needed for the Kambala is being readied at the venue.

Groups in Mysuru had earlier asked the government to drop the Kambala from the Dasara programme. The government, however, chose to proceed and has now finalised the dates.

Separately, cultural programmes for the festivities will be held at the Palace and 10 other venues. More than 3,000 applications have been received so far, and 400 to 500 teams will be selected to perform, Mr. Kumar said.
