Nadda welcomes CJP's decision to call off September 5 march

Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday welcomed the decision by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to call off its proposed march scheduled for September 5 in central Delhi. He reiterated that the progress and success of the nation's youth remains the top priority for the BJP-led NDA government.

Nadda, along with his Cabinet colleague Jitendra Singh, had held multiple meetings with CJP representatives last month during the protests at Jantar Mantar. The minister's statement came after the Centre informed the Supreme Court that it would not pursue criminal cases registered against students in connection with the July 20 protests, which had witnessed clashes between demonstrators and security personnel.

Recalling the July 25 meeting with student representatives, Nadda said the government had assured that cases against protesting students would be withdrawn and no harsh action would be taken against them in the future. He added that discussions were also held with BJP-ruled state governments to move forward on fulfilling that promise.

"We welcome the decision to call off the September 5 protest announced by the CJP's spokesperson," Nadda said, emphasising that the development and progress of the youth is the government's foremost concern.

The development comes a day after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis referred to the CJP as "Congress Jitao Programme", accusing the Opposition of focusing on individual issues after failing to defeat the BJP on ideological grounds. He was speaking at the BJP's state-level convention in Pune.
