Nagpur Woman Dies After Husband Assaults Her Over Dance Class Dispute
A Nagpur woman died after her husband allegedly assaulted her over a dance class dispute. Post-mortem revealed strangulation and internal injuries, leading to a murder case.
A 38-year-old woman in Nagpur, Maharashtra, died on Thursday after her husband allegedly assaulted her following an argument over her decision to attend a dance class instead of cooking dinner. The incident has led to the arrest of the husband on murder charges.
The victim has been identified as Yamini Krishna Lal Yadav. Her husband, 41-year-old Krishna Lal Yadav, was taken into custody after a post-mortem examination revealed serious injuries inconsistent with the initial accidental death report.
According to police, Krishna Lal returned home from work and asked Yamini to prepare food for him and their two young children. However, Yamini was getting ready to attend a dance class at their housing society and refused. The disagreement escalated into a violent argument, during which Krishna Lal, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, attacked Yamini on her neck and abdomen in front of the children.
After the assault, Yamini complained of severe pain and asked her husband to fetch painkillers. Krishna Lal went to a medical store, but it was closed, and he returned without medication. Yamini's condition worsened, and her abdomen began to swell due to internal injuries. She was later taken to a hospital, where she died during treatment.
Initially, police registered a case of accidental death. However, the post-mortem report revealed a fractured neck bone, severe damage to the intestines, and signs of strangulation. The findings prompted police to question Krishna Lal and register a murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
Speaking to reporters, Yamini's brother said the family had been in Mumbai when they learned of her death. He said the post-mortem findings made it clear she had been attacked, leading to the arrest. He added that Yamini had previously mentioned marital arguments but had asked the family not to intervene, saying it was a family matter and that interference would cause her more problems later.
A murder case has been registered against Krishna Lal Yadav, and further investigation is underway.
