Naidu Welcomes EC Clarification on SIR, Says It Settles Misconceptions

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has welcomed the Election Commission's unanimous clarification on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, stating that it has settled the misconceptions that had gathered around the exercise.

The clarification was issued by the Commission led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners S.S. Sandhu and Vivek Joshi. Mr. Naidu said the collective position reaffirmed the integrity and credibility of India's constitutional bodies.

In a social media post on Saturday, the Chief Minister observed that the decisions on the SIR were taken collectively and in strict conformity with established institutional protocols.

He described attempts to erode global confidence in India's democratic framework or its electoral processes for short-term political advantage as deeply unfortunate.

Mr. Naidu further remarked that electoral outcomes express the people's mandate, and that in a robust democracy leadership also means accepting victories and defeats with grace and humility. He added that leaders across party lines share a collective responsibility to sustain public confidence in the country's democratic process.
