Naidu Rejects Corruption Charges in Andhra Mega DSC Teacher Recruitment

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday dismissed allegations of corruption and manipulation in the Mega DSC teacher recruitment drive, asserting that the selection process left no room for irregularities.

Speaking at a public meeting in Kuppam, Naidu highlighted his party's long record on teacher recruitment, saying that DSC and APPSC drives held during his tenures had never been marred by paper leaks or manipulation. "DSC means CBN and CBN means Telugu Desam. We have conducted DSC 14 times," he said.

The Mega DSC conducted after 2024 filled around 16,000 teaching posts, he said. The 2025 recruitment covered 16,347 posts, with more than 3.3 lakh candidates registering for the computer-based examination.

Naidu acknowledged that hundreds of legal challenges had been filed against the recruitment but said the government had answered every allegation. Around 350 petitions were filed to halt the appointments, he said, adding that the opposition continued to persist with its claims despite the government's explanations.

The Chief Minister also defended the teachers and their sports certificates, rejecting the opposition's description of them as fake. He said teachers across several cities were angry and protesting because they felt insulted.

His remarks came amid a widening confrontation with the YSR Congress Party over alleged irregularities, particularly appointments made under the sports quota. YSRCP president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded a CBI inquiry, alleging that ineligible candidates received appointments, and has called for the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh.

The dispute escalated in Vijayawada on Monday when YSRCP leaders protested outside the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, demanding an investigation. The demonstration turned tense after sports-quota teachers also gathered at the site, leading to rival protests. Police had denied permission for the YSRCP protest.

Naidu has accused the opposition of spreading false propaganda over the sports-quota appointments, saying certificates issued during the previous government were now being questioned. The YSRCP has maintained that only an independent CBI investigation can establish whether the recruitment process was transparent.

With local body polls approaching, the row has emerged as a major flashpoint between the ruling party and the opposition.
