The awards were formally announced in July by a panel including Jayaraj, Chairperson of the Feature Film Jury; Aseem Sinha, Chairperson of the Non-Feature Film Jury; and A Chandrasekhar, Chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury. The announcement was made in the presence of Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan M.N., Joint Secretary (Films), and Dhirendra Ojha, Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau.
This year, the Best Actor in a Leading Role award was shared jointly by Kartik Aaryan for his performance in 'Chandu Champion' and Mammootty for 'Bramayugam'. Reacting to the honour, Kartik Aaryan took to Instagram, expressing that the moment was beyond words and that a long-cherished dream had finally come true.
In other categories, 'Article 370' was named Best Feature Film, while 'Bhangaar' won the Best Non-Feature Film award. The Best Documentary honour went to 'Ram-Nami'.
