Amit Shah Opens 9th National Security Conference, Focus on Migrants and Cybercrime

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the ninth edition of the two-day National Security Strategies Conference-2026 in New Delhi on Monday. The conference brings together senior security officials and grassroots officers to deliberate on key challenges facing the country.

Discussions on the opening day centred on counter-terrorism, intelligence fusion through the Multi-Agency Centre (MAC), a vision document on narcotics control, detection and deportation of illegal migrants, a policy framework to combat cybercrime, and proxy warfare by Pakistan.

Shah emphasised the need for effective implementation of the MHA's PRAHAAR scheme to tackle terrorism and radicalisation. He also called for expediting trials by bringing back fugitives and using trial-in-absentia provisions, along with a comprehensive approach to investigating UAPA cases.

The Home Minister directed agencies to use AI-based analysis of information on MAC platforms to develop standard operating procedures for various security challenges. He also instructed strict measures against infiltration.

Day two of the conference will cover threats from sub-aerial systems, securing the blue economy, information warfare, and the need for a bio-security framework.

The hybrid event saw participation from over 850 attendees, including Ministers of State for Home Affairs, the Union Home Secretary, Deputy National Security Advisers, and heads of Central Armed Police Forces. State and UT Directors General of Police, young police officers, and domain experts joined virtually.

Before the conference, Shah paid tribute at the Martyrs' Column, honouring Intelligence Bureau personnel who sacrificed their lives for national security.
