Navodaya Vidyalaya Opens Class 9 and 11 Lateral Entry Applications for 2027
Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has opened online applications for lateral entry into Classes 9 and 11 of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for 2027, with the selection test scheduled for April 10, 2027.
The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has invited online applications for lateral entry admissions to Classes 9 and 11 of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) for the 2027 academic year. The selection test for both classes will be conducted on April 10, 2027, at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of the concerned district. Candidates have until September 30, 2026, to submit their application forms online.
JNVs are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Education at these schools is free, covering board and lodging, uniform and textbooks. A monthly contribution of Rs 600 towards the Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi (VVN) is collected only from students of Classes 9 to 12.
Eligibility for Class 9
Applicants must be bonafide residents of the district where they wish to apply and should be studying in Class 8 during the 2026-27 academic session in a government-recognised school in the same district where the JNV is functioning. Candidates must have been born between May 1, 2012, and July 31, 2014. The district of residence and the district of the Class 7 school must be the same. Students who have already passed Class 7 in previous academic sessions are not eligible.
Eligibility for Class 11
Only Indian nationals studying in Class 10 in India during the 2026-27 session may apply. Candidates must have been born between June 1, 2010, and July 31, 2012, and must be enrolled in a government-recognised school. Those who passed Class 10 before the 2026-27 session are not eligible.
The results of the Lateral Entry Selection Test 2027 are expected to be announced around May or June 2027. Candidates will be able to check their scorecards on the application portal.
