NDMC Opens Public Consultation on Making Connaught Place Inner Circle Vehicle-Free

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has initiated a public consultation to assess the feasibility of permanently restricting vehicles from the Inner Circle of Connaught Place, one of the capital's busiest commercial hubs.

The civic body's chief has invited residents, traders, and commuters to share their views on several key aspects of the proposed pedestrianisation plan. Among the questions posed to the public is the ideal duration for which the Inner Circle should remain vehicle-free each day, and whether weekend timings should differ from those on weekdays.

In addition to traffic management, the NDMC is also seeking suggestions on the types of activities that could be organised in the vehicle-free zone. This could include cultural events, markets, or recreational spaces that would make the area more vibrant and accessible to pedestrians.
