Two Dead in Telangana Village Clash Over Neem Tree Boundary Dispute

A long-running feud over a neem tree in a Telangana village turned deadly on Saturday, leaving two men dead and a police officer injured. The incident occurred in Erragadda Thanda, a small settlement in Suryapet district, where tensions remain high following the violence.

The dispute, reportedly ongoing for nearly 25 years, centered on a neem tree located along the boundary of a house. The immediate trigger came when Mandha Venkateshwarlu Yadav, 62, allegedly brought labourers to cut down the tree on Saturday morning.

This action led to a confrontation with members of a rival group. The argument quickly escalated, with both sides allegedly attacking each other using axes and other weapons. During the clash, Bhukya Ramu allegedly attacked Venkateshwarlu with an axe, causing fatal injuries. Venkateshwarlu died at the scene.

In the chaos, Ramu also allegedly attacked his own father, Bhukya Saida, 58, who had intervened in the confrontation. Saida sustained serious injuries and died while being taken for medical treatment.

Following the double killing, agitated residents gathered near the accused's house. Police rushed to the village to prevent further violence and attempted to take the accused into custody. During the intervention, Sub-Inspector Naveen Kumar sustained a head injury and was shifted to Huzurnagar Area Hospital for treatment.

Police have registered a case and are collecting evidence from the scene. The accused, Ramu, has been taken into custody. Additional personnel have been deployed in Erragadda Thanda to maintain a strong presence and prevent retaliatory violence.

The bodies are being sent for post-mortem examination, while police continue questioning witnesses. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as tension remains high in the village.
