NEET PG Candidate Writes Exam in Tears as Parents Missing in Nepal Floods
A NEET PG aspirant took her exam in tears as her parents remain missing after Nepal floods. She recalled rituals and memories during the test.
A medical aspirant appeared for the NEET PG 2026 examination on August 30 while her parents remained untraced following the devastating floods in Nepal. The candidate, identified as Tanvi, shared her harrowing experience on social media, revealing that she spent a significant portion of the three-hour test in tears.
Tanvi said that out of the three-hour exam, she spent about one and a half hours crying. The emotional strain made it difficult to focus, as she noted that the questions became hard to read because of the tears in her eyes.
A particularly poignant moment came when she saw her photograph on the admit card displayed on the screen during the exam. She recalled that the photo had been taken by her father, a memory that made the already challenging test even more difficult.
Tanvi also spoke about the personal rituals she missed. Before previous exams, her mother would give her dahi shakkar (curd and sugar) for good luck. This time, that ritual did not happen, adding to the emotional weight of the day.
Her parents, Venkatram Annamdevara and Anagha Annamdevara, were part of a group of 67 people on a Kailash Yatra. The family has been unable to contact any member of the tour group since the floods struck. The last known location of the group was the immigration centre and the Friendship Bridge.
Despite the overwhelming circumstances, Tanvi drew strength from her father's wishes. She stated that she knew her father wanted her to take the exam, and she felt compelled to do it for him and her parents.
Tanvi continues to wait for updates, hoping that her parents and all others in the group are safe and will return home soon.
