Netanyahu Meets Milei, Other Latin American Leaders on UNGA Sidelines
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu met Argentine President Javier Milei and the leaders of Paraguay, Panama and Bolivia on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a series of meetings with Latin American leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, sitting down with Argentine President Javier Milei and, separately, with the presidents of Paraguay, Panama and Bolivia.
In remarks exchanged with Milei, Netanyahu urged the Argentine leader to keep speaking out in support of Israel, describing a shared commitment to justice and truth. Milei responded by praising Netanyahu, calling the occasion an honour.
The two leaders were later seen giving a thumbs-up to their delegations, with Milei heard declaring in Spanish, "Long live liberty, damn it."
Netanyahu also posed for photographs with Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz Pereira, Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino and Paraguayan President Santiago Peña, and held discussions with the three leaders.
The meetings followed Netanyahu's address to the General Assembly, in which he rejected allegations of genocide in Gaza as "the biggest lie of the century" and asserted Israel's right to wage war against Iran. Scores of delegates walked out of the hall in protest during the speech.
His address came after days of speeches by world leaders criticising Israel's war in Gaza and accusing him of orchestrating a genocide against the Palestinian people.
