Netanyahu unveils handpicked Likud list, promises election win
Netanyahu presents personally chosen Likud candidates for October election, vowing victory and vowing to continue military campaigns.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday presented his personally selected candidates for reserved slots on the Likud party list, expressing confidence ahead of the October 27 national election.
Speaking at an event in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said he believed the party was on course for a significant electoral win. "I think we're on the right track. I believe we're on the way to a great victory," he said.
The list, submitted to the Central Elections Committee, includes Talik Gvili, whose son Ran was the last Israeli hostage whose remains were brought back from Gaza. Political commentator Yaakov Bardugo, known for his work with Channel 14, was also given a reserved slot.
Netanyahu used the platform to argue that Israel's military objectives have not yet been fully achieved. He cited the need to "definitively eliminate" the threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran, asserting that his leadership was essential to completing these goals.
He contrasted his approach with that of opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot, accusing him of advocating surrender in Gaza. "Who will do it? Us, when we fought, or the head of Netanyahu's opposition list, Gadi Eisenkot, who called for surrendering and leaving Gaza, surrendering to Hamas' dictates?" Netanyahu asked.
The Prime Minister also highlighted what he described as Israel's achievements under his tenure, including changing the face of the Middle East and bringing the Iranian regime to the brink, while maintaining that the mission remains incomplete.
