Motorists travelling the full length of National Highway 66 in Kerala may soon face a significantly higher financial outlay. According to sources within the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the toll for a one-way journey from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram is projected to rise to approximately ₹3,000 once every toll plaza along the corridor becomes fully functional.
The estimate reflects the cumulative user fees that would be levied at each of the plazas positioned along the highway's route through the state. At present, not all toll collection points are active, which has kept the effective charge for the complete trip lower than the anticipated figure.
The projected increase is expected to affect both private car owners and commercial vehicle operators who regularly use the NH 66 stretch for long-distance travel. The highway serves as a critical arterial route connecting the northern and southern districts of Kerala, and the revised toll structure could influence travel decisions and logistics costs.
NHAI sources did not provide a specific timeline for when all plazas would become operational, but the projection offers an early indication of the financial impact awaiting road users once the full tolling infrastructure is in place.
